Vote For Roque Caston And His Blog "Roque's Reality" At The 2012 Weblog Awards

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a great time. 2012 is still new and I love every minute of it. For everyone that knows me as the Saturday contributor here on The Future Forward website, I have something to share with you guys. Some amazing news has been announced a few days ago and I hope all you faithful readers are going to be a part of it.

The twelfth annual Weblog Awards opened its nominations on January 1st, 2012. This is an awards show that has recognized a wide variety of bloggers for the past twelve years. No matter what type of blogger you are, there is a category for you. Religion, Sports, Politics, Food, Humor, there is a category for everyone.

I just nominated my popular comedy blog "Roque's Reality" for the Weblog awards under these five categories.

1. Best LGBT Blog
2. Best Topical Weblog
3. Most Humorous Weblog
4. Best Writing Of A Weblog
5. Best Kept Secret Weblog

This is something I've never done before. I've never nominated my blog in the whole four years I've been doing this. But when I found out about this amazing opportunity, I felt my blog deserved to be up there. Not just for me, but to my faithful readers as well. The readers of my blog and here on The Future Forward website of course, tell me all the time that they relate to my stories whether it's funny or serious. Here I am, a 20 year old, incredibly smart, African-American openly gay male, who lives a humorous and positive life that people can laugh and relate to openly and honestly. My stories keeps them entertained and they always tell me to never stop writing my stories.

That's the feedback I love. The fact that people love reading about my life. No matter who they are or what they are, they all consider me a part of their family. I have friends of almost every culture, race, gender, and sexual orientation. I love everyone and I show it all the time. It inspires me to convince more people to come read "Roque's Reality" and get the same reaction you guys do. I want to entertain you guys with my stories till the day I die. Better yet, even after I die, I'm sure there will be some unpublished manuscripts lying somewhere with my name on it. Whether you're reading my blog, a book I hope to have published someday, an article from a magazine, I want to always put a smile on your face and make you live a positive life.

Due to that, I'm asking for your help. I want you guys to not only vote for my blog yourselves, but I also want you to spread the word and tell people to vote for "Roque's Reality" in the same categories at the Weblog Awards. I want to get this blog to be at least nominated. I don't care about winning. The fact that more people will know about my blog is better than any award in my opinion. My Future Forward family has joined the band wagon and are helping me get the word out You should too!

Here is the link to my blog
http://www.roquesreality.com/

This is the link to the voting registry. All you have to do is go down and fill out three blogs under the five categories I listed above.
http://2012.bloggi.es/

Voting ends on January 15th. So we have to do this quickly. I have faith in each of my readers. I love every single one of my readers and I'll continue to write more stories just for you guys. You guys are my friends. So to my friends, please vote for "Roque's Reality" at the 2012 Weblog Awards.

Heaven has a New Blogger: Taylor Siluwé

My heart is filled with such sadness as I have to announce that our community has lost another member. New Jersey-based author Taylor Siluwé died Sunday afternoon at home after losing his battle to lung cancer at 43-years-old.
Siluwé was the author of several novels of erotica, such as Dancing With The Devil, A Taste for Cherries and Cheesy Porn and Other Fairytales. Siluwé also wrote short stories, essays and blogged about LGBT news, activism and gay life at SGLCafe.com.

Taylor you will be missed and it was really nice to get that email from you just last week saying that you loved me brother and the words I shared with you were truly from my heart! You were a huge inspiration for the Christopher Street TV series and were on set as a background player for our pilot, which meant so much to me… I have great memories or brunch in the Village and hearing stories on how you support me even when the community was not on my side... Thank you for not judging me and being there in that time of need. It meant a lot to me.

I know you are still blogging up there in heaven… Love you!!!

Androgynous Barbie the REMIX

Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy-company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler (1916-2002) is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.
Barbie has been an important part of the toy fashion doll market for fifty years, and has been the subject of numerous controversies and lawsuits, often involving parody of the doll and her lifestyle. Many gay boys have often been obsessed with Barbie, because or beauty, fashion sense, and her fearless attitude. Barbie has no limits and she can be and is whatever she wants, this same attitude has been adopted by gay boys all around the world and it is no surprise that the hottest new YouTube video blogger has chosen to be called “Doll Face Barbie,” with his beauty, drive, ambition, and scandal you can only expect for this Androgynous Barbie to deliver nothing but playtime fun. I was really excited that this hot new blogger once rumored to be dating Diana Ross’ son Evan Ross, made time to talk with me about the life of a real life doll. With his hot YouTube programming you can watch him talk to you from his bathroom, while adjusting his lip gloss, telling you how fix your baby hair, or just informing you that he was not made by Parker Brothers or Mattel so don’t play with him, this is what he had to say…

Who is Doll Face Barbie? Doll face Barbie is a very driven 22 year old male from Los Angeles, that is going to change the gay face in the main stream media for the better and put a new face to black gay men in the media.

How often are you compared to BSCOTT? I hear pretty often but people just see the looks I mean I’m flattered BSCOTT is beautiful, BUT at the same time I’m me and he is him I bring a very different style blog wise then him.

What made you start a video-blog and what kind of content can we expect from you? Well on myspace I would always get the messages like "OMG I bet your funny" or "can u show me this or that" and a lot of other stuff so I thought why not put it on YouTube so everyone can watch?

Baby Hair 101? Please explain? LOL! So everyone wanted me to do a video on how to maintain your baby hair. Everyone thinks that video is so funny but I am a person who has natural "baby hair" and a lot of people would ask me how I got baby hair, so I did a video for those who wanted it to… LOL… I did not expect for it to become so popular.

Are you going to share beauty and fashion tips on a regular? Yes oh there so much more to come.

What is your favorite hair care product? My Bed Head Wax Stick my hair is very thick and that really keeps it down, it is great!

Which celebrities are the best to follow on Twitter? Paris Hilton I love her, Teyana Taylor, Solange, RichGirl (All Of Them). There are so many I we could be here all day… LOL

What have you done with MTV? I Did Parental Control as well as Next

Any fun projects currently in production? Yes actually I have Doll vs. Doll 2 coming In November

Do you like being androgynous? I love who I am but sometime people see that as me trying to me a woman and don’t understand "Androgyny" BUT I LOVE IT THOUGH!

How does being androgynous affect your dating? Not much cause it takes a real man to be with me and a lot of dudes are DL and want a guy who is going to hide the SECRET with them and I am me all day so if u date me I am going to be me no matter what.

So tell me about the Evan Ross drama? OMG NOT THIS AGAIN NEXT QUESTION PLEASE… LOL

How did your life change after being on media takeout with Evan Ross? For the best that got a lot of people to get to know who I am so THANKS MEDIA TAKEOUT

How do you handle haters, bad press, and shade? Just pretty much kill them with kindness there is nobody who can bring me down BUT ME!

Are you and Evan Ross friends? LOL....No, Next subject please…

What can we expect next from you in your career? To be a in a feature film playing someone like myself and people will take me serious as and an actor/model

Where can we see your work, contact you, and stay up to date on all your work? Youtube.com/dollfaceBarbietm as well as DollFaceBarbie.com

Check out DollFace Barbie's Blog and Movie Trailers to Doll VS Doll Below!!! Enjoy they are very entertaining!

Next is NOW: Young, Black and Fabulous

Natasha Eubanks: YBF Creator Chosen for Black Enterprise's 'Next Is Now' Cover Story
By
Bridget Bland
Natasha Eubanks, founder and CEO of the popular black celebrity blog Young Black and Fabulous -- more commonly known as TheYBF.com -- joins three other young entrepreneurs on the cover of the January 2010 issue of Black Enterprise magazine.
The monthly black business periodical chose to profile its "BE Nexters" -- young professionals all under 35 -- making moves in their respective fields. Eubanks, who launched her blog in 2005 after noticing a lack of African Americans featured on gossip sites, had aspirations of being a lawyer.

"I didn't even really know what a blog was when I started YBF. I was just playing around the 'net, filling my boredom of my hostess job at the Olive Garden and waiting on [law] school to start," she shared.

In her feature story for BE, the former aspiring lobbyist revealed how her parents discouraged her from abandoning her Loyola Law School endeavors.
"My mom was like, 'Oh, no, no, no, there's no money in that. ...My parents thought it was a really bad move."

But against her parent's urgings, she decided to try it anyway.

Discover a Cool Blog - #6

Who is Nando?
I'm a Mexican dating blogger who was given up for adoption three hours after birth then illegally brought to the USA in a basket full of newspapers. Oh, and I also like men.

What does "NANDOISM" mean?
Nandoism is a sexy state of bliss induced by a sharp wit, excessive self-reflection and extreme sarcasm with the goal of reaching enlightenment...it's not nirvana, it's Nandoism. (By the way, did you check out the BRILLIANT banner on the blog? It was done by creative genius Dwayne Labuschagne click here to see his portfolio)
When did you start your blog?
Officially, around June 2008 and it keeps evolving, just like I do. If you go back to early posts, you will see that the style of writing is quite different.
What's your blog's theme?
I'm not sure it really has a specific theme as much as it has a general purpose. We all date--so some would call it Nando's Dating Blog--we all go through ups and downs and my blog pretty much documents those dating disasters but I also blog about daily life issues--like fights with friends, job mishaps and other quirky happenings. And whether you're gay, straight, Latin or whatever, you can relate to my stories and hopefully, follow along as I learn life lessons.
What other things are you involved with?
I create Men's Grooming Reviews for A Girl's Gotta Spa, Gay Online Dating Vlogs for GetSteady.com, and I'm a Dating Advice Panelist for Luv em OR Leave em. I also do Social Media Consulting for various businesses.

Why don't you post regularly?
Cause they don't make blog fiber. And I'm not a robot, I'm a guy who has feeling and feel stuff. I'm a bit lazy too. I'm 34 and single. And to my surprise I'm a cougar.
Where are you from?
I'm originally from the great town of Juarez, Mexico where they murder whores, but I was raised in Odessa, Texas where they dislike gays.
Why did you move to New York?
My friend Julie invited me to come live with her and her then boyfriend, now husband, in a beautiful Brownstone in Brooklyn. I moved to New York 2 months prior to 9/11. The three of us bonded tremendously and still have a strong connection.
Do you have enemies?
Many. In school, (elementary and Jr. High) I was the most picked-on kid. I remember the entire band at Crockett Jr. High would line up at the band hall and hit me, one at a time, as I walked over to put my instrument in its slot. But I also have a BFF named Cris, (that's Cris with no H) and she's been there for me since the 4th grade!
Would you like to kill the people who were mean to you?
No, I just accept their friend request on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, but NEVER comment on their status. (It's a silent and passive revenge)
What's your life's philosophy?
People are capable of change--so let them.
What do you want people to walk-away with after reading your blog?
That we're really all the same and our experiences prove it. And that I believe the children are our future.

Son of Baldwin
The literary, socio-political, sexual, pop culture blog. Live from Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Nobody Knows My Name
Writer, Thinker, Iconoclast, Polemicist, Non-conformist, Provocateur, Citizen, Geek; Admirer of Morrison, Son of Baldwin! (Son of Baldwin photo by Keith Zackowitz and Son of Baldwin).

"I don't like people who like me because I'm a Negro; neither do I like people who find in the same accident grounds for contempt. I love America more than any other country in the world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually. I think all theories are suspect, that the finest principles may have to be modified, or may even be pulverized by the demands of life, and that one must find, therefore, one's own moral center and move through the world hoping that this center will guide one aright. I consider that I have many responsibilities, but none greater than this: to last, as Hemingway says, and get my work done. I want to be an honest man and a good writer." - -James Baldwin
