'The Game' Says There are 'Several' Closeted Rappers, Tells them to 'Be Gay and Proud': VIDEO

Rapper The Game spoke with VLAD TV about closeted rappers in the hip-hop industry

ARE YOU A MAN FAN?

Says the rapper:

"I don’t have a problem with gay people. Like, BeyoncĂ© should’ve said, ‘Who run the world? Gays,’ because they’re everywhere and rightfully so. Do you. It’s a free country. Be gay, you can do that...Game don’t have a problem with gay people. Game has problem with people who are pretending not to be gay...The number one issue with that is that you could be fooling somebody and you could give them AIDS and they can die and so that in the closet shit is real scary. So, we’ve got to get into the real seriousness of it and it’s just not fair to other people..."

Adds The Game:

"It's not cool to be in the closet. If you gay, just say you gay. Be gay and be proud.”

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

In 2006, The Game was criticized for remarks he made on DJ Jo Whiley's radio show when he referred to gay men as "faggots" and "not real men".

At the time the BBC decided not to take action against Whiley because she made a 'sincere, full and swift' apology and distanced herself and the network from The Game's comments, according to WENN. The BBC also said that it would not deny The Game future interviews: "The BBC does not ban artists, but we do have editorial guidelines making clear that we do not condone homophobic comments or bad language, which all artists are expected to follow when they are on air during a live interview."

Most may view Nicki Minaj as just another rapper/singer/performer; but the multi-faceted entertainer is much more than that, she’s a bankable brand that’s only just begun to blossom. In a few short years, Nicki has influenced trends through her music and unmistakable fashion sense, and her involvement in cosmetics, television, hair and even the floral industry (Nicki has exclusive pink collection bouquets available on flowers.com for Valentine’s Day) has helped spike sales and visibility for a number of ancillary brands. Whether her detractors like it or not, Ms. Minaj is a one-woman marketing guru. BlackEnterprise.com takes a look at some of the brands the young starlet has—directly or indirectly—helped bolster by association.

Marsha Ambrosius - new video “Far Away”

Marsha sends a strong message about sexuality, suicide and bullying in her new video “Far Away.”

The video begins with Marsha beautifully sitting atop a piano, playing a particular note in red stilettos. Then Miss Ambrosius and who appears to be her boyfriend are walking through the park. He then comes to her house, and they share a glass of wine. Then, his boyfriend arrives! Blew my mind too!

Days later, the two gentlemen took a stroll through the park, hand in hand, and pass a group of “thugs.” Days pass, and the guy we assumed was Marsha’s boyfriend went through the park alone, and the thugs jumped him. Apparently, the bullying and rejection got to the guy, because he committed suicide by the end of the video.

Continue reading to view the message Marsha personally writes to the viewers and watch the powerful video!

Dear Friends,

Every year over 1 million people commit SUICIDE. Some were BULLIED because of their SEXUALITY. I lost a friend to SUICIDE, and I’m asking all of you to support alternative lifestyles.

Don’t put up with or join in with BULLYING. It’s time we became more aware in this WORLD. Take responsibility to make a difference. So if my MUSIC can save one life, I’ve done my job.

I love you all so much!

Marsha

Zolra's Corner: Celebrate You

I will be attending Gay Pride down here in my hometown New Orleans. Honestly, it will be the first pride I ever attended. Just thinking about attending it is making me nervous. I want to start the weekend by giving ya'll some good advice. The LGBT community have been celebrating like crazy, I had thoughts about drinking pina colada Daiquiris. Then I remind myself I'm only 18 years old. Here is some advice I have given before, but I feel like it's the right time to talk about it again.

I am 18 years old, but work like a 25 year old. Most people are shocked at how my work ethic is. Not only that, but I am comfortable with who I am. If anyone asks me if I'm gay, I'm fine with that. I've got nothing to hide. You don't have to assume. Just ask me nicely.

Because of the fact that I am so young and becoming successful very swiftly, I feel like I have a responsibility for the younger audience in the LGBT community. Many people around my age are dealing with nonacceptance from family and friends. All this homophobia and criticism around them are starting to crush them like poison that can spread across the body in the blink of an eye.

For all the young ones out there, be comfortable with who you are. Only one person controls you're life and that's you. Take control and write your own story. Now that you're reaching adulthood, you are becoming 100% independent. At this time, focus on your life.

I love and accept who I am. No one forced me to be this. I have had feelings for guys since I was 2 years old. At times, I denied it. But as the years gone by, I realize this is who I am. When people see me doing what I've always wanted to do at 18 years of age, they imagine what I'll be like when I'm 25. Life is something. All we can do is accept it for what it is. A balance between positive and negative.

Surround yourself with people that are going to influence you to a better future. For me, it's great feeling to talk to people who i know is going to inspire me everyday. My friends Nathan "Seven" Scott and Dwight Allen O'Neal are one of the bests. I can speak and chat with them, knowing that I am not alone. I am not the only homosexual being on the planet. This is something that has been going on for years.

So for all the young ones that are still going through this, just know that we've been there. We've experienced it. We know what it feels like. Don't even think of yourself as an outside. Think of yourself as a human being just like everybody else.

It's time to celebrate people. Just like one of my favorite songs ever, it's time to celebrate yourself.

Arts.Advocacy+Wellness: "JayBezz - Releasing The Inner Bitch and Evolove!"

In A.A+W with JayBezz

Arts.Advocacy+Wellness with
Cornelius Jones Jr. and The FUTURE caught up with New Out Gay singer-songwriter-musician-recording artist JayBezz.

Here's what he shared:

TF: Name 5 music influences - past and present?

JB: Wow, It's really hard to name them all!! First, I would say Janet Jackson.. She's so personal and innovative. Diana Ross, a world class diva. George Michael for courage. Jermaine Dupri for swagger.. And finally Jonté (maybe he's more future than past or present) for teaching me how to release my inner bitch!!

TF: Where are you from originally, and currently reside?

JB: I'm a military brat.. the "where are you from" is always a fun question.. but in my heart Kansas City is home, where the family is. Now I live in San Francisco, aka
the best city in the world!

TF: Describe your style of music?

JB: My style is definitely R&B, and I take both of those classifiers with substantial weight. I
love rhythm. I love to dance and cannot listen to music without movement. I also love the blues. I love telling my stories and letting people see more of who I am as a person through my art.

TF: Where would you like to be as an artist?

JB: Now that the album is done and all of these amazing things are happening, what I want more than anything is the recognition of my peers. I hope Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Janet, Lady Gaga.. all of them will listen to and appreciate what I'm doing with sound and music.

TF: Tell us about the evolution of Evolove.

JB: I realized that love has evolved in so many ways from where it was as I was young. Society has begun to understand that we can love another human being, and gender is not the qualifier for that love. Most importantly, I saw my personal evolution in love. This album is really a biography of my relationships over the years. I can hear where the love began, where the love ended, and where I was ready to love again.

TF: Name one guilty pleasure.

JB: Besides boys? HAHA! You know what, I cannot get enough of Degrassi on The N (In no small part to Adamo Ruggiero).

TF: We know that you are an out-gay artist, any words of wisdom for other aspiring out-gay artists?

JB: If any of you lacks
wisdom, should ask for it. It will be given generously and ungrudgingly. I truly believe you have to stand for something or be victim to fall for anything. I stand for my truth and that paved the way. Thanks you guys! It's been a pleasure.

The FUTURE wishes JayBezz a tremendous amount of success and blessings as he continues to Evolve in his extraordinary work.

Erykah Badu’s Window Seat Video Uncut

Posted by Angela Wu

If you think Lady Gaga’s and Madonna’s music videos are controversial and shocking, then Erykah Badu’s newly released Window Seat video uncut will blow your mind. Badu’s most recent music video came out on March 28,2010, and already, it’s stirred up chatter and questions of all different kinds.

In her music video, Badu walks down a bustling street as she strips down to nothing; and the street she’s walking along also happens to be the very street in Dallas where JFK was shot. As if walking naked in public isn’t controversial and outrageous enough, doing so at such a monumental place is making people go crazy, and she might even be faced with criminal charges.

Erykah Badu has been an icon for many music lovers since early 1997. She exudes a style of hip-hop, R&B, and jazz that coalesces in a way that touches and moves people, not only through melodic rhythms, but also through her powerful lyricism. Her debut album Baduizm reached #2 on the Billboard Charts in ‘97, with her lead single
On & On holding the 12th spot on the singles chart in both the US and the UK. Some of her other acclaimed singles include You Got Me co-written with Jill Scott, Bag Lady which was nominated for a Grammy, and Love Of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop) with past-lover Common, which won Badu her fourth Grammy in 2003.

Badu’s Window Seat lyrics are just as powerful as the impromptu music video is itself. At the end of the video, when she’s already naked and exhibiting her numerous tattoos, there is the sound of a gun shot as she falls to the ground, and the narration reads–

They feel most comfortable in groups, less guilt to swallow. They are us, this is what we have become, afraid to respect the individual. A single person within our circumstance can move one to change, to love ourself, to evolve. - We are QUICK to assassinate, what they don't understand.

Take a look at this revolutionary video and tell us how you feel.

Help Begging Brother Chris Brown Out

Chris Brown has begged his fans to help make him "relevant" again.

The R&B star was sentenced to five years' probation and six months' community labour after he admitting punching, biting and choking his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in a car in February 2009. He was also barred from contacting the singer for five years and told to attend domestic violence classes for 52 weeks.

Since the assault Chris' career has plummeted. He struggled to fill venues when playing a series of shows last year, and lashed out at the industry on his Twitter page claiming stores weren't even stocking his new record.

The 20-year-old has now recorded a message for his fans on SayNow.com, a website which lets artists speak to those who follow them. "Hey what's up y'all it's CB. Um... well I ain't ever really did this but right now I just need all of my fans' help. I need all of the fans I have, I need your help," he says. "It's crazy because a lot of radio stations aren't playing my records. They're not being as supportive - and I wouldn't expect them too. But, in everything you guys do you have the power to bring me back because that's all I need. You guys, no one else can do that expect the fans."

Chris explains he has done everything he can to try and kick-start his career, and doesn't know what other steps he can take. He insists he is only in the industry for his fans, and hopes they can help him

"I don't know what else to say, there's nothing else I can do, I'm doing everything I need to do. I'm a better guy. But it's on ya'll because my singing and my music, I do it all for y'all and the love and everything else," he says. "But it won't be possible if I'm not relevant on the radio and it won't be possible for me to be an artist if I don't get support from people who give artists as outlet. I can't be an underground mix-tape artist! And so, that's where we are. I just want all my fans to help me. I love you, peace."

What I find ironic about the story is I recently was thinking about how Chris’ career was entering “Shitville” and if I were his manger I would not have advised him to release an album so soon. He should have spent his time this past year speaking with other young men his age who have been charged with similar crimes and doing other community service projects outside of what he was required to do. Now is the time to save face without throwing it up in everyone’s face what you are doing. We don’t need you tell us you have done all you can do or point out every good deed you have done since last February, did you really think that you would survive the punishment so easy? All I can say is Chris I hope you made decent grades in high school, because you may need to apply for college so that you can have a degree to fall back on. It appears that your career is a wrap!

Arts.Advocacy+Wellness: "Torya and Her Notes on Ubuntu"

Ubuntu Education Fund is positioning music as its bridge between Port Elizabeth and the rest of the world.

With that in mind, we have developed a partnership with Philadelphia band, GrindCity. GrindCity’s commitment is the real deal; they are a socially conscious band as concerned with the message as the music. They have recently garnered rave reviews as the opening act for Living Colour: http://bit.ly/OmDPC

The band continues to impress fans while spreading awareness about Ubuntu Education Fund and the importance of practicing safe-sex. By making music that moves the crowd and partnering with causes they genuinely believe in, GrindCity has yet to hit a false note.

Kid Vlogs From Apple Store, We Smell a New Commercial Campaign

Kids. They grow up so fast these days, with the Twitter and the MySpace and Tamagotchi and sports drinks. You've gotta hand it to them, though: they've got their technology and they know how to use it.Which is why the dense YouTube account of Nicholifavs, filled with a kid who vlogs exclusively from New York City's Fifth Avenue Apple Store, is merely a natural progression in the realm of Things Kids Do Now. If, indeed, this is a viral marketing ploy by Apple, then hats off. And if it isn't, Apple had better snatch him up quick. Justin Long, meet your match. Photo: Lil Mogul

Update 9/20/09: The internet has spoken! Since our original post, things have really started to take off for 13-year-old Nicholi White from Harlem, New York. After
growing interest and coverage online, Good Morning America featured Nicholi's videos, touting him as "YouTube's Newest Star." Most recently, White was profiled in the New York Post where he talks about his newfound web "celebrity": I'm blowing up... I'm going back to school on Sept. 9, and I can't wait. I'm going to show my teachers.

Aside from school, what's next for Nicholi? Well
according to a video posted this week, he's headed to Los Angeles. Nothing has been confirmed, but the New York Post claims that "the likes of Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah have also come calling."We'll keep you updated on things as they unfold, although I'm sure simply subscribing to his YouTube channel will provide all the breaking news straight from White -- where he thrives -- at the Apple store.
