Arts.Advocacy+Wellness: "Feed Your Spirit..."
My apologies for the late post today, but sometimes you just need to wait for a good prophetic word for inspiration.
Feed your soul, Your Spirit, with music that supports your mood, finances, relationships. Maybe its a song that gets you out of depression, worry over lack of finances, your unemployment has run out or you've been denied services. Maybe it's a song or lyric that you need to chew on to bring you out of suffering, suffering from an abusive relationship with another person, with alcohol, or a chemical substance.
Feed your Spirit, with medicine of music, lyric, and melody that detoxifies your system (physical and mental psyche). What we listen to and put into our minds, our bodies is just as important as the real food and fluids we digest. It's all connected to our physical and spiritual being working in tandem. A song that filled my belly today is James Fortune's "Still Able." Find a song for you today.
Namaste.

Allow yourself at least 3-5 minutes each day to quiet the chatter. We face chatter and chaos every day as we leave our home and enter into the land of the living. Sometimes the chatter and chaos happens in before leaving our home, like an early morning phone call or a text. Challenge yourself to avoid the call or text, for at least 3 minutes. I'm sure if it is urgent, 3 minutes, won't make or break the situation. If you don't have a private room in your home, try escaping to your bathroom. The bathroom is naturally a quiet place for all.
The last few days have been a whirlwind of emotions. Exciting, mixed and low. I am here and I am breathing.
Hope this helps.

Idris Elba Featured on Latest Essence Cover

Let’s just go ahead and get this out of the way: Idris Elba is one good looking dude. Okay? We admit it. If we ever got to meet Elba we’d get lost in his eyes and then probably hug his leg until his bodyguards or the police forcibly removed us. That kind of reaction is probably why Essence decided to put the actor on the cover of its November issue.
Inside the issue, which hits newsstands October 12, Elba discusses being a dad and what he finds physically attractive. “Skin, I love beautiful skin,” Elba tells Essence. “I’m tactile, very tactile. A woman who has really nice, looked-after skin is such a turn-on for me. It’s always sexy.”
We’d give more details about the interview, but we have a feeling almost everyone just went to the nearest Duane Reade to buy the most expensive lotion they can find.
He is GREAT in BBC America's Luther:

Arts.Advocacy+Wellness: "Cornelius speaks OUT against Bullying and Hate Crimes"

Sending my best out to everyone this A.A+Wsome Wednesday. I want take time this week to reflect on Bullying and Hate Crimes, which has taken a huge toll in the LGBT community over the past few weeks, primarily amongst our gay youth.
I am deeply saddened by this, however, it is not shocking news to me. For years I have been documenting numerous hate-crimes and suicides that has taken place within the LGBT community. Sadly...but finally, this serious matter is making national headlines. For a while it seemed as if the world did not care about us, and more importantly our gay youth. Today, tomorrow, and forever, I pause to remember the lives lost and the lives almost lost. With love I remember: Raymond, Tyler, Seth, Billy, Asher, and Carl Joseph by inviting you to listen to my special message and poem below:
