Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy-company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler (1916-2002) is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.
Barbie has been an important part of the toy fashion doll market for fifty years, and has been the subject of numerous controversies and lawsuits, often involving parody of the doll and her lifestyle. Many gay boys have often been obsessed with Barbie, because or beauty, fashion sense, and her fearless attitude. Barbie has no limits and she can be and is whatever she wants, this same attitude has been adopted by gay boys all around the world and it is no surprise that the hottest new YouTube video blogger has chosen to be called “Doll Face Barbie,” with his beauty, drive, ambition, and scandal you can only expect for this Androgynous Barbie to deliver nothing but playtime fun. I was really excited that this hot new blogger once rumored to be dating Diana Ross’ son Evan Ross, made time to talk with me about the life of a real life doll. Who is Doll Face Barbie? Doll face Barbie is a very driven 22 year old male from Los Angeles, that is going to change the gay face in the main stream media for the better and put a new face to black gay men in the media.

How often are you compared to BSCOTT? I hear pretty often but people just see the looks I mean I’m flattered BSCOTT is beautiful, BUT at the same time I’m me and he is him I bring a very different style blog wise then him.

What made you start a video-blog and what kind of content can we expect from you? Well on myspace I would always get the messages like "OMG I bet your funny" or "can u show me this or that" and a lot of other stuff so I thought why not put it on YouTube so everyone can watch?

Baby Hair 101? Please explain? LOL! So everyone wanted me to do a video on how to maintain your baby hair. Everyone thinks that video is so funny but I am a person who has natural "baby hair" and a lot of people would ask me how I got baby hair, so I did a video for those who wanted it to… LOL… I did not expect for it to become so popular.

Are you going to share beauty and fashion tips on a regular? Yes oh there so much more to come.

What is your favorite hair care product? My Bed Head Wax Stick my hair is very thick and that really keeps it down, it is great!

How does being androgynous affect your dating? Not much cause it takes a real man to be with me and a lot of dudes are DL and want a guy who is going to hide the SECRET with them and I am me all day so if u date me I am going to be me no matter what.

Flipping The Script: Beyond Homophobia in Black Hollywood

‘COLLECTIVE SOULS’ GO BEYOND HOMOPHOBIA

A unity themed reception benefiting L.A. Black Pride follows homophobia conference

On Tuesday, March 23, from 9:30pm – 11pm, the social events group The Ebony Collective (TEC) will sponsor a post-conference benefit reception, entitled COLLECTIVE SOULS. This event will follow the provocatively themed conference, Flipping The Script: Beyond Homophobia in Black Hollywood, being held earlier that evening at the Writers Guild of America West. The reception will benefit Los Angeles Black Pride (LABP), the country’s oldest and largest African-American GLBT pride organization in the country.

Flipping The Script, organized by openly gay writer Demetrius Bady and moderated by award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, will tackle key issues regarding the portrayal of African-American gay and lesbian characters in film and television as well as the concern of homophobia in the black community and the black entertainment industry. The panel will include noted filmmakers Paris Barclay (The Good Wife), Quincy LeNear and Deondray Gossett (The DL Chronicles), and actor Brian White (I Can Do Bad All By Myself).

Immediately after the conference, TEC will provide a wine and cheese benefit reception for LABP, aptly titled COLLECTIVE SOULS to convey the social group’s theme of unity. “COLLECTIVE SOULS’ purpose is to end the evening on an inspirational note. We wanted to gather attendees of the conference to recognize the numerous important contributions LABP has made to our community to combat both internal and external homophobia,” says TEC.

Founded in 1988, the non-profit LABP has a longstanding history of combating homophobia, providing L.A.-based events and programs throughout the year to the African-American GLBT community. The event sponsor, TEC, is a small social group, aimed at providing fun and safe social events in an effort to support the gay black male community.

This event is open to the public, with suggested donation for entry (all proceeds go to LABP).

The Making of a King

What New York rapper is royal, empowering, majestic, and stylish? Abdul Jabbar or for us King Jabbar. This Capricorn is on a journey toward breaking into the LGBT music world as well as mainstream. I had the pleasure of sitting down talking with him about who he is and what I think he needs to do in order to get his music career on the next level.


Now a days gay celebrities are popping up everyday, in New York City alone there is a new socialite who is making a song, throwing a party, or trying to be the next big thing, however this city has only birthed a few that are mainstream gay celebrities who are creating careers that are hitting outside the 5 boroughs or the New Jersey area. What is that Maurice Jamal, XEM Van Adams, Maurice Runea, B. Scott, Bry’nt, Derrick L. Briggs, DJ Baker, or Nathan H. Williams are doing? The formula is really simple they are hot and they are promoting themselves. My entertainment Mantra has always been “If you cannot sell yourself, no one else will and this is very important to break into any industry. As for King Jabbar he is halfway there, he has the talent, style, charisma, looks, now we have to get him his crown, you cannot be royalty with out your crown.

When you talk to King Jabbar you don’t get rapper instantly, you would think that this rapper would be a neo soul artist who would meditate in the middle of central park with a tribe. He is just so spiritual and down to earth, which is why he credits Eryka Baydu as his influence. Being into numerology, astrology, oils, and keeping your aura in white light is what keeps King Jabbar grounded in his quest for stardom. King Jabbar has always wanted to be in the music business, because he loves entertainment, he briefly modeled in the past; however stopped once it took away from his relationship with others and his music. It is no surprise that he was apart of fashion, because he and Grace Jones could be best friends when it comes down to his fashion sense and his addiction to Soho (must see shopping area in NYC). With his seducing eyes, sense of style, and his attitude toward thought before expression he has several tools that will get him far.

As King Jabbar sat in a huge chair facing me, I felt like a king was looking right through me. Although I was conducting the talk, I sensed some aggressiveness within him. That’s when romance came up, I was very intrigued with how King Jabbar felt toward romance and where did that fall in his life as of now, as King Jabbar went through a list of all his goals that he has planned for the next year (an album and mix tape included) I learned that love right now was not a priority; however a supportive friend who can bring something to the table is always accepted and in doing so safer sex practices are a must. He is very passionate about our community protecting ourselves and thinking prior to your actions. When he is in a relationship though this shy Capricorn may be a little more aggressive than passive, just don’t expect for him to make the first move.

When you want to catch this up and comer you better hope to catch him shopping in Soho or a Friday night (his favorite day of the week), cause other times he is working on his passion “music”. When asked who you could compare yourself to, he responds not really anyone (they all say that), yet if you are a Busta Rymes, Andre 3000, or Shaggy Fan, this is the LGBT artist you want to get into… A king is born! 1.So who is Miko Evans? And what do you do?
I’m a 14 year Entrepreneur and Multi-Talented Artist born & raised in Atlanta, GA with a degree in Music/Entertainment Business Management from the Art Institute of Atlanta. I’m the founder of 2 businesses, one focuses on providing consulting solutions and services to Micro-Enterprises and the Small Business Community in the Atlanta area and abroad, the other is the World’s First LGBT EXCLUSIVE Talent Agency, Casting and Production Company, known as Meak Productions.

2. So tell The FUTURE about your company?
How Long have you been around?Meak Productions has been around in its current state since Spring of 2003. The actual conception of the name was only going to be used as a parent company of an Adult Model website project intitled, Bussy2000.com, which was created Summer of 1999. After years of development and spiritual maturity, I was inspired to take Meak Productions to another level.The future of Meak Productions is to be internationally known and abroad. We want to become a symbol of Inspiration, Hope and Motivation for all LGBT Artists & Talent around the world who are looking for a company that excepts them for who they are without compromise, and who want to change the way the Media presents LGBT Culture and people in the community.We have a variety of projects IN HOUSE that we are working on to assist in the future development of our Vision. 3. What made you decide to focus on LGBT artists?
During the development of the Vision, I was very concerned about how LGBT people in the media was being portrayed and presented in the Arts and abroad. As an Artist myself (Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Visual Artist) who happened to be Same Gender Loving, I noticed how a lot of barriers over the years were being broken in the Entertainment Industry concerning LGBT Culture and people. However, it was not enough.With the success of Ellen Degeneres, RuPaul, and some others before the start of LOGO, HereTV, and other LGBT Television Networks today, I felt that it was time for a Vision of this nature to be manifested. I felt that with all of the LGBT Talent that is in the Industry, and listening to the stories of others about how they had to suppress who they are in order to get that BIG BREAK, there should be something in place where Talent shouldn’t have to SELL OUT in order to FIT IN.I thought about how much of a blessing this Vision was going to be for other Out LGBT Artists, and how much of an impact it was going to make on our LGBT Youth.

4. What are some of the projects you are currently producing?
Besides are Monthly & Quarterly marketing campaigns which features the latest Talent on our Roster, we also have launched our New Music Department and New Record Label, Meak Pro Music as a result of the marketing success of our 1st 2 CD single remix projects sponsored for 2 of our Music Artists.Our 3rd CD Single remix project for Dairon Skye (Our Music Talent of the Month-Fall Quarter 2008) is scheduled to debut on August 29, 2009 on the Exceptional Radio Network featuring R&B and House Remixes produced by yours truly.Our 4th & 5th CD Single remix projects are scheduled for Fall 09 and Winter 2010 featuring Marlowe Rainbow (Mr. January 2009) and Todd Vaughan (Our Newest Talent on the Roster)Our greatest accomplishment for this year will be our first Talent Workshop entitled, “I’m Gay, I’m Talented. Now What?” This workshop will be a part of the 13th Annual Atlanta Black Gay Pride Celebration this Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta, GA. It will feature in-depth discussions and education on how to successfully break into the Entertainment Business as an OUT Artist.Lastly, we are introducing our New Talents of the Month for August 2009, Jesse Braxton Hilton (Professional Model), and September 2009, Le’Son Ivory (Professional Actor, Model & Choreographer – Star of the hit Gay DVD Drama Series, The Closet).

5. Which artist is currently the most sought after?
At this time, it’s hard to say. We are still a growing company and we are registering talents at least every quarter. One of the challenges were getting the public used to the fact that there is a company such as ours. Many are still amazed they we exist. We just recently started to book talent a few Talent for this year’s Atlanta Black Pride. We hope more opportunities will come as a result of this. We want the entertainment business public to realize who we are, why we exist and what we are here to offer.

6. Do you work based on submissions or do you seek after hot LGBT talent?
Actually it is both. We do quarterly casting calls online via our MySpace, Twitter and Facebook outlets. All Talent interested in being a part of our Vision are required to visit our website and register online via our Online Talent Application, plus submit a Bio and Professional Photos and / or Headshots.Once that happens, we select the Talent based on their level of experience, quality of performance, and level of professionalism and integrity, which is VERY important in business. A wholesome attitude and approach to life is the ingredients to a healthy and successful career.

7. What is your Entertainment mantra?
Our formula for success is PROFESSIONALISM, EQUALITY and INTEGRITY. We want to showcase quality and wholesome Talent in a diverse and equal way. When you see a lot of LGBT images in the Media, all you see is the Stereotype and mostly the European Gay Images. You don’t see enough of Black, Latino and Asian images, nor Transgender operating as everyday people in various walks of life.Our goal is to correct this so that those coming behind us can have an eclectic and wholesome spectrum of our community.

8. What do you require from your talent?
I require that my Talent be SERIOUS and PASSIONATE about their Art, Talent and Career as a successful performing and visual artist. I require that they are wholesome, down to earth and professional. All Talent must realize that you must invest in your own careers. No one can do this for you. I also require that they be comfortable and confident in their own skin and sexuality. It is up to you if labeled as a Gay Artist, not the media or the entertainment industry. Also, realize that at the end of the day, THIS IS BUSINESS. We must learn to separate personal from professional.

Drama from Queenz

YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can upload and share videos. Three former PayPal employees created YouTube in February 2005. In November 2006, YouTube, LLC was bought by Google Inc. for $1.65 billion, and is now operated as a subsidiary of Google.With YouTube being the new second choice for watching television and a first for many, you have to credit them for offering their viewers unique content along with regular programming. I personally spend a few hours on YouTube per day catching up on my favorite shows and the new web-series Drama Queenz is one of them. Drama Queenz created by Dane Joseph is a replica of his life with his two other roommates, it explores the life of the up and coming actors Preston, Davis, and Jeremiah, DRAMA QUEENZ is a comedy web series composed of ten-minute episodes about three actors dealing with life, love, and auditioning in Queens, New York, hence “Drama Queenz”. I had the wonderful opportunity of speaking with the creator and star of the show Dane Joseph and this is what he had to say…

1.What inspired you to create Drama Queenz? In real life, Troy (Preston), Kristen (Davis), and I (Jeremiah) are roommates and have been best friends for over ten years. People were always telling us that we should have a reality TV show because they thought we were so funny. One day, I was thinking about our lives in the City as actors, and thought it would make a great series. I sat down and wrote the ten page pilot episode, showed it to the boys, and the rest is history, as they say.

2. Who are your main characters and what are their deepest secrets? The three main characters are Jeremiah (a dreamer with incredibly bad audition luck), Davis (a perfectionist who produces uneven results), and Preston (the realist whose personal hang-ups creates sensational drama). As far as their deepest secrets, I'm not sure. I think their biggest dream is just to be happy here in the City, which is probably some combination of success, love, and friendship. How to formulate that concoction is what causes all the drama!

3. What kind of comparisons have you heard your work up against? Of course, we hear NOAH'S ARC, but I believe any show with black, gay characters will get that comparison. With that said, we're honored to be compared to such a show, as well as SEX AND THE CITY, which we also get a lot. Those shows clearly moved people and set a precedent, and we'd love to reach that level of success one day.

4. What's do you like most about your production? The fact that I get to do with my best friends is the most amazing thing. I love, appreciate, and cherish their talents and opinions so much, and it's great to produce something you're proud of in such an environment. It's also a great feeling once an episode is completed and you know that you were responsible for that. The creativity aspect is priceless. It also helps that the fans have been overwhelmingly positive about our work, which only makes us want to work harder.

5. Did you come up with your concept of your series before the title? It kind of happened concurrently. We were living in Astoria, Queens at the time, and being that the show is about actors, the name DRAMA QUEENZ instantly came to me.

6. For real life Drama Queenz what is some advice you can give them about getting into the world of entertainment in New York? You just have to jump in there and do what you want. I make a personal commitment to always do something for my passion everyday. If you're serious about getting started, pick-up a Backstage and go to an audition, or get in class or just do your own thing. If you just start doing something and stay committed, you're destined to go somewhere.

7. How similar is the series to your real life?The show is loosely based on our real lives, but is definitely heightened. Many of the audition situations were handpicked from stories we have or our friends have, but the majority of things we just think are interesting and funny...and we hope others do, too.
